Biography :

Madame Buraka (b. 1990, USSR) is an internationally known multimedia artist, illustrator, and tattooist, whose practice grew out of graffiti, illustration, and documenting youth subcultures. With her signature font, ultra-sharp line art, she has carved a distinctive space in tattoo culture and contemporary art.

Originally born in the Soviet Union and raised in Germany, she studied Communication Design during which time she discovered tattooing almost by accident. While studying abroad (in Barcelona 2013).
Madame Buraka does not operate from a fixed tattoo shop: rather, she is nomadic travel-based. She brings clients into private, intimate settings in different cities, often working in pop-ups or temporary studios wherever she happens to be. This mobility feeds into her authenticity and connection with her following.

Her creative style is deeply personal and conceptual: she often focuses on female figures (her illustration of a “girl” has become something of a trademark), strong contrasts, and line-work that blends adornment, symbolism, and minimalism. Her work in photography (for example the project Cold Romance) explores female empowerment, impermanence in relationships, intimacy, and loss ideas that also reflect in her tattoo practice.

Account is central to how she works. Her flash book (tattoo designs ready to pick/adapt) is shared there; clients from around the world reach her thanks to that visibility. While she acknowledges the power of social platforms, she also critiques how in some cases they lead to homogenization or replication of styles without depth. She aims, through her practice, to maintain meaning, personal connection, and artistic integrity.

Her career has taken her globally: she tattoos in cities like London, Paris, New York, Italy, Switzerland, Spain. Despite the demand, she retains a private, almost exclusive approach working in close, controlled settings rather than large commercial studios. Clients often seek her because of her style’s authenticity, not simply its popularity.
